Inherit the Wind

Written by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee

A theatricalization of the infamous 'scopes monkey' trial from the 1920's, this play questions the interaction between organized religion, lawmaking, and public schools. The concept for Michigan State's production leaning into the modern-day issue of book banning, seen in the pre-show where cast members would discuss band books with the audience and in the books used liberally in the scenic and props design. This show also featured a turntable for the witness stand.
